A Visit from the North and South
Written by Liz Greenhalgh
Recently we had another visit from 4 of our friends from abroad. We saw Annie and David Browne from the South of England arrive on Friday 15th January for a week and after a 1700mile drive from England we saw David and Rhiannon Edwards from the North West of England arrive on Saturday 16th for 10 days; a long drive and a great achievement! We were very happy to see everyone again and we enjoyed our time spent with them very much and appreciated all the hard work that they put into the projects.
Annie Browne, a keen supporter of our music project, spent 3 mornings down at the school with me, teaching the children some of the musical theory and a song. She used a really fun method, which we all loved and the children learnt the song in no time. She also had a great idea for the Friday afternoon session and the children were happy to take home a lion mask craft, which was related to the jungle themed song that we taught them during the session. Annie also helped with the Education Project, playing with the children and helping them with their worksheets.
Annie’s husband, David, joined hands with the Better Homes team and was a great help during the assembling of the third partitioning wall next to the stage in Ziurel Centre. Through out the week, the team made great progress with this section. David, who also works in management training, was more than happy to work with Daniel and Mara and discuss various aspects of the overall management of the charity, which was a great help for our future development.
After recovering from their very long drive, Rhiannon and David (and monkey) enjoyed a varied week, between the Education Department and BHP and were a great help, getting involved in anything that was asked of them. They enjoyed a visit to Sorin’s family in Tarlungeni, whom they have supported since the beginning of the building of their house, which began almost 3 years ago. David and Rhiannon have visited FAST a number of times and have helped at every stage of the house being built and they have formed a good relationship with Sorin and his family throughout this time.
Monkey (who loves having his photo taken) seemed to do a bit of everything and was very excited at being able to play with the children outside in the snow. He likes to meet new people and he said "it took a long time to get there, but I loved visiting the children again, they had very happy faces and I am looking forward to going again soon. I enjoy meeting new people and going on holiday with them, it is my favourite hobby, so if you would like to take me on holiday with you, I would be very happy to come".
If you would like to take monkey on holiday with you and help to raise money towards FAST projects as well as see some more photos from this trip, then please visit David’s website at: http://www.monkey4romania.com
We want to say a big thank you to David and Rhiannon and Annie and David for their hard work and we look forward to seeing them again in a few months.
